Story from Commerce, CA

I have honestly only worked at one high school in south central. I
have not heard of food programs. Growing up in my school district (not sure if this is the case everywhere), depending on how much income your parents made you were able to buy the school lunch at a discounted rate and some kids even got lunch for free. However, by the time you get to high school no one wants to eat in the cafeteria and no one wants people to know that they are poor and need help being fed.

I wonder if at school there is a way to implement a program that
would not distinguish which kids have a bigger need. Or if all kids
could be require to eat one meal a week at school.. or breakfast or
lunch at school..especially in communities that are lower income..that
way parents are helped out and kids are healthy and eating properly.
Ill keep thinking....
